Ingredients

  • 150 g butter
  • 200 g sugar
  • 100 g flour
  • 100 g almonds (peeled, ground)
  • 0.5 bottle orange flavoring
  • 1 cup cornmeal (polenta)
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 eggs
  • 1 tsp Baking powder
  • a pinch salt
  • powdered sugar

Instructions

    Bring the milk to a boil, season with salt, stir in the polenta and simmer for about 5 minutes; then set aside to cool.

    Cream the butter and orange flavoring together, beat in one egg at a time. Add sugar while continuing to mix until the mixture becomes creamy and frothy. Fold in the baking powder, flour, and almonds, then fold in the frothy batter, finally stir in the cooled polenta.

    Grease and line a 26 cm springform pan with crumbs, pour in the batter and bake at 170°C for about 50 minutes (check with a toothpick).

    Remove from oven, let rest 10 minutes before loosening from the pan, then dust with powdered sugar and serve.
