Orange Cake

Ingredients

  • 500 g flour
  • 21 g yeast (0.5 cube)
  • 200 ml lukewarm milk
  • 80 g sugar
  • 100 g orange zest
  • 100 g raisins
  • 2 tbsp orange liqueur
  • 1 packet vanilla sugar
  • 80 g softened butter
  • 100 g powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • orange peel

Instructions

    Chop the orange zest finely. Dissolve yeast in the milk with 1 tsp sugar and mix all ingredients in a bowl using the dough hook of a mixer. Let the dough rise for 30 minutes. Knead it again, divide into three equal pieces, roll each into about 50 cm long strands, braid them into a knot, place on a greased baking tray, tie into a tight circle, cover and let rise for about 30 minutes in a warm spot, then bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes until golden brown.

    Whisk powdered sugar with lemon juice until smooth and spread over the braid with a tablespoon. Sprinkle orange zest over the still wet glaze.
