Spoonsparrow onion rings in batter coating with dip, a spicy snack for dipping

Ingredients

  • 500 g onions
  • 30 g Parmesan
  • 100 g spelt whole‑grain flour
  • 0.5 tsp Curry Powder
  • 2 Eggs
  • 125 ml beer
  • 0.25 tsp Salt
  • frying oil
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 150 g plain yogurt
  • 1 tbsp fresh chopped parsley

Instructions

    Peel the onions and cut them into rings.

    Grate the cheese for the batter. Mix cheese, flour, curry powder, eggs, beer and salt. Coat each onion ring with a fork through the batter and fry in hot oil until golden‑yellow. Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.

    For the dip, peel and finely chop the garlic, then blend with mayonnaise, yogurt and parsley until smooth. Season the dip with salt, serve in small bowls alongside the onion rings.
