Oatmeal Bars with Applesauce

Oatmeal bars with applesauce from Spoonsparrow are perfect for sweet tooths who care about healthy eating.

Ingredients

  • 75 g mixed nuts (e.g., macadamia, almonds, walnuts)
  • 75 g sunflower seeds
  • 200 g fine rolled oats
  • 100 g hearty rolled oats
  • 100 g chopped almonds
  • 50 g coconut flakes
  • 100 g whole grain rice flakes
  • 75 g sesame seeds
  • 100 g raw cane sugar
  • 50 g beetroot syrup
  • 150 g butter
  • 150 g applesauce (no added sugar)
  • 75 g raisins

Instructions

    Coarsely chop the nuts. Mix with sunflower seeds, oats, almonds, coconut, rice flakes, sesame and raw cane sugar in a mixing bowl.

    Melt beetroot syrup and butter over low heat for about 3 minutes, then add applesauce and combine with the other ingredients. Roughly chop raisins and fold into the mixture.

    Spread the batter evenly to a thickness of about 2 cm on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (160 °C fan; gas: level 2–3) for 25–30 minutes until golden brown.

    Remove from the oven, cut into small bars and cool the oatmeal bars with applesauce on a wire rack. Store the bars cool, dry and dark.
