Fig-Cranberry Bars

The fig-cranberry bars support the cardiovascular system with valuable fats from nuts.
Ingredients
- 100 g walnut kernels
- 100 g dried figs
- 1 Organic Orange
- 80 g soft butter
- 100 g whole cane sugar
- 1 pinch salt
- 2 Eggs
- 150 g wheat whole‑grain flour
- 2 tsp Weinstein baking powder
- 100 g ground hazelnuts
- 100 g dried cranberries
- 1 tsp cocoa powder
- 0.5 tsp cardamom (or cinnamon)
Instructions

Grind the walnut kernels.

Dice the figs finely.

Rinse the orange hot and dry it. Grate the zest finely. Cut the fruit in half and squeeze out the juice.

Whisk butter, sugar, salt and orange zest with a hand mixer. Fold in the eggs.

Add flour, baking powder, figs, nuts, cranberries, cocoa and cardamom and knead together.

Spread the dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and roll it under plastic wrap.

Remove the foil and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (fan: 160 °C, gas: level 2–3) for about 30 minutes.

While still hot drizzle with orange juice, let soak for 5 minutes, then cut into bars and cool on a work surface.
