Minced Meat Casserole in English Style

Ingredients

  • 500 g starchy potatoes
  • 2 onions
  • 2 bell peppers (red and yellow)
  • 800 g ground meat
  • 2 EL vegetable oil
  • 1 TL tomato paste
  • 250 ml Beef broth
  • Salt
  • pepper (ground)
  • 100 ml hot milk
  • 2 EL Butter
  • Nutmeg (freshly grated)

Instructions

    Peel, wash, and boil the potatoes in salted water for about 25 minutes. Peel and finely dice the onions. Wash, deseed, and finely dice the bell peppers. Brown the ground meat in hot oil until crumbly; add onions, pepper cubes, and tomato paste, cooking for 2-3 minutes. Pour in the broth and simmer for about 10 minutes, seasoning with salt and pepper.

    Preheat the oven to 180°C fan.

    Drain the potatoes, let them dry, then mash. Stir in hot milk and butter, seasoning with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.

    Fill a baking dish with the browned ground meat, spread the mashed potatoes on top, and bake in the preheated oven for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
