Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 100 g capers (canned)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 600 g peeled tomatoes (canned)
  • Salt
  • Pepper (freshly ground)
  • 3 cans tuna (185 g each, in own juice)
  • 500 g short macaroni
  • 2 tbsp freshly chopped basil
  • 4 lemon wedges
  • 150 g shredded mozzarella

Instructions

  1. 1.

Peel and finely chop the garlic. Drain the capers well and finely chop half of them. Heat the oil in a pan and sauté the garlic until translucent. Add the tomatoes and chopped capers, seasoning with salt and pepper. Simmer over medium heat for 20-25 minutes, breaking up the tomatoes with a whisk. Preheat the oven to 200°C (fan).

  2. 2.

Drain the tuna well, flake it with a fork and mix into the tomato sauce. Taste again. Stir in the cooked macaroni and transfer everything to a greased baking dish. Sprinkle with mozzarella and bake for 30-35 minutes until golden. Remove from the oven, garnish with remaining capers, chopped basil, and lemon wedges, then serve in portions.
