Ingredients

  • 300 g flour
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 80 g butter (sliced)
  • 100 g grated Jarlsberg cheese
  • 1 egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 1 Egg white
  • 125 ml milk

    Preheat the oven to 215 °C. Grease a baking sheet and set aside. In a bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Add the sliced butter and grated Jarlsberg, rubbing with the flour until evenly sized crumbs form. Whisk the egg and yolk together and add to the milk. Pour this egg‑milk mixture into the flour‑butter mix and knead into a firm dough ball.

    Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 2 cm thickness, then cut circles 5–6 cm in diameter. Place the round dough pieces with 2.5 cm spacing on the baking sheet. Lightly beat the egg white and brush the scones with it. Bake on the middle rack for about 15–20 min. Serve warm with butter.
