Ingredients

  • 4 slices of toast bread
  • 4 slices of Jarlsberg (®)
  • 8 medium onions
  • 2 l chicken broth
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • 2 tbsp fresh thyme
  • salt (and pepper)

Instructions

    Sauté the onions in a pan with butter over low heat for 30 minutes until they are golden brown and slightly caramelized.

    Add the chicken broth and thyme, then let everything simmer for another 15 minutes.

    Season with salt and pepper, ladle the soup into bowls, add toasted bread, and sprinkle grated Jarlsberg® on top.

    Bake in a preheated oven for 10 minutes to finish.
