Hearty Baked Steak

Ingredients

  • 1 onion
  • 200 g mushrooms
  • 4 slices smoked ham
  • Salt
  • Pepper (freshly ground)
  • 4 slices beef steak about 180 g each (e.g., ribeye)
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
  • 100 g blue cheese
  • 150 g mozzarella
  • 1 tbsp freshly chopped parsley

Instructions

    Peel the onion and dice finely. Clean the mushrooms and slice them. Fry the ham in a hot pan until golden brown on both sides, then remove it from the pan. In the ham fat sauté the onion with the mushrooms for 2-3 minutes, seasoning lightly with salt and pepper.

    Preheat the oven to 220°C (428°F) with fan and top heat.

    Pat the steaks dry and season with salt and pepper. Brown them in hot oil in another pan for 1-2 minutes on each side. Place each steak in a small iron skillet (preheated slightly) or on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, then spread the mushrooms over them. Dice both cheeses and sprinkle on top. Bake in the oven for about 10 minutes until done, then serve garnished with parsley.
