Ingredients

  • 3 eggs
  • 250 g flour
  • 2 EL sugar
  • 375 ml milk
  • Salt
  • vegetable oil (for greasing)

Instructions

    Separate the eggs; whisk the yolks with flour, sugar, lemon zest, and milk into a smooth batter. Let rest for about 30 minutes.

    Beat the egg whites with a pinch of salt until stiff peaks form, then fold them into the batter.

    Preheat the waffle iron and lightly grease it. Pour a small ladleful of batter onto the iron, close, and bake a golden‑yellow heart-shaped waffle. Keep finished waffles warm in an oven at 80°C on both top and bottom heat.

    Serve drizzled with honey or syrup, or dusted with powdered sugar as desired.
