Ground Meatballs with Cheese Filling

Ingredients
- 1 roll (from yesterday)
- 600 g ground beef
- 1 egg
- 1 onion
- 1 tbsp oil
- 1 tbsp freshly chopped parsley
- 1 tsp dried marjoram
- Salt
- black pepper (freshly ground)
- 100 g hard cheese (e.g., Emmental)
- breadcrumbs (for coating)
- oil for frying
- lettuce leaves (for serving)
Instructions

Soak the roll in slightly warm water and squeeze out excess liquid. Mix the ground beef with the egg and soaked roll until well combined.

Peel and finely chop the onion; sauté it in hot oil until translucent. Add the parsley and marjoram, season with salt and pepper, and mix into the meat mixture. Take small portions of the meatball mixture, flatten them in your hand, fill with diced cheese, shape into balls, and coat each ball in breadcrumbs.

Heat oil to 170°C (338°F). Fry the coated meatballs in batches for 4–5 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels and serve on a bed of lettuce leaves if desired.
