Ingredients

  • 500 g Lamb mince
  • 1 onion
  • 4 Garlic cloves
  • 5 slices toast bread
  • 50 ml milk
  • Salt
  • black pepper
  • deep-frying oil
  • 3 tbsp Flour
  • 100 g ground walnuts
  • 3 tbsp Lemon juice
  • 8 tbsp olive oil

Instructions

  1. 1.

Drain three slices of toast and soak them in the milk. Peel the garlic, set aside two cloves for the sauce, finely chop the rest. Peel the onion and grate it finely. Combine onion, garlic, and mince in a bowl. Add the soaked bread to the meat mixture, season with salt and pepper, and knead into a smooth dough. Shape the dough into a long log, cut into 20–25 equal pieces; form small balls and coat them in flour.

  2. 2.

For the sauce, drain the remaining toast, soak it briefly in lukewarm water, squeeze out excess liquid, then add to a bowl with walnuts and lemon juice. Press in the reserved garlic, knead into a smooth paste, adding enough water to create a thick sauce. Season with salt and pepper, serve in dipping bowls. Heat the frying oil and fry the meatballs 4–5 minutes until golden‑brown; skewer them on wooden sticks and serve with the dip.
