Green Mochi

Green Mochi: This recipe combines two delights of Japanese cuisine—matcha tea powder and mochi.

Ingredients

  • 400 g sticky rice flour
  • 250 g sugar
  • 2 tbsp matcha tea powder
  • Starch (for rolling)

Instructions

    Sift the flour into a bowl. Mix in 400 ml water, sugar and matcha tea powder.

    Fill the dough into small mochi molds (or tiny tartlet molds) and steam in a bamboo steamer, about 20 minutes per batch if needed. The green mochi should become noticeably firmer and stickier.

    Remove from the steamer, let cool, take out of the molds and roll in starch to finish cooling.
