Ginger Mulled Wine

Ingredients

  • 175 ml dry red wine
  • 25 ml port wine
  • grated lemon zest
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • 1 clove
  • 1 crushed cardamom pod
  • 1 star anise
  • 1 piece ginger (≈1 cm)
  • 80 g brown sugar (optional)

Instructions

    Heat the red wine, port wine, lemon zest, ¼ of the cinnamon stick and the other spices in a small pot (do not boil).

    Peel the ginger, slice it, add it to the pot. Sweeten to taste and let steep for 5 minutes.

    Place the cinnamon stick in a heat‑proof glass, strain the mulled wine through a fine sieve into the glass and serve hot.
