Ginger Cake in English Style

With the ginger cake in the English style from Spoonsparrow, afternoon tea is accompanied by a delightful treat!
Ingredients
- 200 g Spelt flour Type 1050
- 80 g whole grain sugar
- 1 tbsp ginger powder
- 1 tsp Baking Soda
- 1 egg
- 200 ml Milk (3.5% fat)
- 50 g butter
- 80 g beetroot syrup
Instructions

Add flour, whole grain sugar, ginger powder and baking soda to a bowl.

Warm butter and syrup in a pot until slightly melted and dissolve them.

Whisk the egg with the milk.

Stir the syrup-butter mixture into the dry ingredients, then fold in the milk. Mix until smooth. Pour into a loaf pan lined with parchment paper (about 25 x 11 cm) and bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (fan: 160 °C; gas: level 2–3) for about 50 minutes.

Let it cool in the pan, then remove from the pan and cut into slices to serve.
