Ingredients
- 50 g butter
- 3 eggs
- 150 g sugar
- 200 ml milk
- 1 vanilla bean (pulp)
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 pinch nutmeg
- 625 g flour
- 1 packet baking powder
- flour (for rolling)
- 1.5 L oil (for frying)
Instructions
-
1.
In a bowl beat the butter with the eggs and sugar until creamy, then stir in milk, vanilla pulp, salt, and nutmeg.
-
2.
Mix flour with baking powder, gradually adding it to the dough using the paddle attachment of an electric hand mixer, kneading as you go.
-
3.
Roll out the dough on a floured surface to about 1 cm thickness. Use a donut cutter (or a 7 cm glass) to cut dough rings. From these circles, cut smaller centers with a 3 cm glass.
-
4.
Heat oil in a pan until bubbles rise at the tip of a held wooden spoon (or heat oil in a fryer to 175°C). Fry the donuts in batches until golden brown all around.
-
5.
Remove finished donuts, drain on paper towels, then roll in sugar if desired and serve immediately.
