Ingredients

  • 21 g yeast (0.5 cube)
  • 150 ml lukewarm milk
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 50 g melted butter
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 400 g flour
  • 1 kg onions
  • 400 g sour cream
  • 3 eggs
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 1 tsp Caraway seeds
  • pepper (ground)
  • oil (for the baking tray)
  • flour (for working)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Whisk the yeast into the lukewarm milk with sugar until smooth. Add flour and salt, then knead thoroughly with an electric mixer’s dough hooks to a smooth dough. Adjust with more or less milk so the dough no longer sticks to the bowl. Cover and let rise for about 45 minutes in a warm place.

  2. 2.

Preheat the oven to 180 °C fan‑fry. Brush the baking tray with oil.

  3. 3.

Peel the onions and slice them into thin rings. Whisk together the sour cream, eggs, salt, caraway seeds and pepper.

  4. 4.

Knead the dough again on a floured surface, roll it out and place it on the tray, forming a rim. Spread the onion slices evenly over the dough and pour the sour cream mixture on top. Bake in the middle rack of the preheated oven for 35–40 minutes until golden brown.
