Ingredients

  • 0.5 cube Yeast
  • 150 ml lukewarm milk
  • 1 pinch sugar
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • 300 g flour
  • 1 kg onions
  • 125 g diced bacon
  • 400 g sour cream
  • 3 eggs
  • 0.5 tsp Salt
  • pepper (ground)
  • fat (for greasing the baking sheet)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Whisk the yeast into the lukewarm milk with the sugar until smooth. Add the flour and salt, then knead thoroughly with the dough hooks of an electric mixer into a smooth dough. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place for about 45 minutes.

  2. 2.

Preheat the oven to 200 °C (400 °F). Peel and slice the onions into thin rings or strips for the topping. Dice the bacon finely and fry it in a large pan until crisp. Add the onions and sauté until translucent. Whisk together the sour cream, eggs, salt, and pepper; then combine with the onion‑bacon mixture.

  3. 3.

Knead the dough again on a floured surface. Roll it out directly onto the greased baking sheet and form a small edge around the crust. Spread the onion mixture over the dough.

  4. 4.

Bake the cake on the middle rack of the preheated oven for 35–45 minutes, until golden brown and set.
