This fluffy chocolate cake with chocolate chips is a hit at every birthday party. Try this quick recipe!

Ingredients

  • 400 g butter
  • 150 g granulated sugar
  • 300 g unsweetened applesauce
  • 8 eggs
  • 500 g wheat flour type 1050
  • 150 g cornstarch
  • 5 tsp baking powder
  • 100 g chocolate chips
  • 200 g dark chocolate couverture

Instructions

    Beat softened butter until fluffy, fold in granulated sugar and applesauce, then gradually add the eggs. Mix flour with cornstarch and baking powder, spoon it into the batter and fold in gently. Stir in the chocolate chips.

    Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and pour in the batter. Bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C (180 °C fan; gas: level 3) for about 1 hour, remove and let cool.

    Meanwhile melt the couverture over a double boiler and spread it thickly over the cake, then use a knife to decorate the surface.
