The fig tart with puff pastry from Spoonsparrow is a sweet temptation for afternoon coffee.

Ingredients

  • 400 g puff pastry (refrigerated or frozen)
  • 18 figs
  • 250 ml red wine
  • 200 g gelatin sugar (2:1)
  • a pinch of cinnamon

Instructions

  1. 1.

Wash the figs and cut about 12 into thirds; set aside. Roughly chop the remaining figs and blend with the wine until smooth. Add the sugar to a pot, stir, and bring to a boil. Cook for about 4 minutes while stirring vigorously, then set aside to cool.

  2. 2.

Roll out the pastry on a lightly floured surface and line 4-6 tart tins, shaping a 1.5-2 cm rim.

  3. 3.

Spread a thin layer of wine‑fig jam over the base, arrange the fig slices, pour the remaining jam over them, and sprinkle with cinnamon. Bake in a preheated oven at 220 °C for about 20 minutes, then remove and let cool completely.

  4. 4.

Serve the fig tart with puff pastry alongside coffee.
