For use as a bread spread or fillings in yeasted pastries, the fig jam with cinnamon from Spoonsparrow tastes delightful again and again.

Ingredients

  • 1200 g red figs (ripe and fresh)
  • 1 stick cinnamon
  • 1 clove
  • 300 ml red wine
  • 500 g gelesugar (3:1)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Wash the figs, halve them and cut into strips. Combine with cinnamon, clove, and red wine in a pot. Add the sugar, stir, and let the figs steep for 2 hours. Bring the mixture to a slow boil and simmer for 4 minutes, bubbling.

  2. 2.

Perform a gel test; then fill the prepared jars completely, seal tightly, and place immediately on a dish towel with the lids down. Let stand for 5 minutes, flip over, and allow the fig jam with cinnamon to cool completely.
