Ingredients

  • 2 handfuls elderflowers
  • 1 untreated lemon
  • 500 g sugar

Instructions

  1. 1.

Do not wash the elderflowers; just shake and sift them. Wash the lemon hot and slice it into rounds. Slowly bring 1 l of water with the sugar to a boil while stirring, then let it simmer for about 10 minutes.

  2. 2.

Allow the mixture to cool, add the elderflowers and lemon slices, and transfer to a large pot or bowl. Cover and let steep for about two days.

  3. 3.

Before bottling, strain through a cheesecloth and bring back to a boil with stirring. Pour into a prepared bottle and seal tightly.

  4. 4.

To drink, dilute the elderflower syrup with cold water to taste (approximately 1:6 syrup to water).
