Decorated Sugar Glaze Cookies

Ingredients
- 100 g Soft Butter
- 100 g brown sugar
- 75 g beet syrup
- 450 g flour
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- a pinch salt
- 1 tsp ground ginger
- 0.25 tsp ground cloves
- 1 egg
- flour (for the work surface)
- 200 g powdered sugar
- 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
- green food coloring
- colored sugar beads

Put butter, brown sugar and beet syrup in a pot and melt over low heat. Let cool slightly. In a bowl combine flour, baking powder, salt, ginger, cloves and egg. Add the syrup mixture and knead into a smooth dough. If the dough is too soft or too firm add more flour or water until it is firm and easy to shape.

Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F) with fan and top heat.

Roll out dough on floured surface to about 3 mm thickness and cut out fir tree shapes. Punch a small hole at each tree tip for hanging. Place on parchment-lined baking tray and bake in preheated oven for about 10 minutes until golden brown.

Whisk powdered sugar with lemon juice to make glaze. Tint green with food coloring and decorate the trees with it.
