Croque Monsieur
The Croque Monsieur from Spoonsparrow transforms the popular French classic into a smarter version!
Ingredients
- 2 whole wheat baguettes
- 200 g Cream cheese
- 0.5 Lollo Rosso
- 2 beef tomatoes
- Salt
- Pepper
- 8 slices cheddar

Cut the whole wheat baguettes in half lengthwise and then split each half into two pieces. Spread cream cheese on the baguette slices. Clean, wash, tear off leaves of the salad and place two leaves on each baguette slice.

Clean, wash the tomatoes, remove the stem ends with a wedge-shaped knife and cut them into thin slices. Place two tomato slices on each baguette and season with salt and pepper.

Place cheddar on top of the tomatoes. Spread cream cheese on the upper half of the baguette and place it on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (fan 160 °C; gas: level 2–3) for about 10 minutes, until the cheese is melted.

Remove from the oven, let cool briefly and serve the Croque Monsieur.
