Crispy Fried Tofu Cubes

Ingredients

  • 800 g tofu
  • 2 tbsp sesame oil
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp sweet-spicy chili sauce
  • 2 tbsp Cornstarch
  • 100 g bread flour
  • vegetable oil (for frying)
  • 1 spring onion (green parts only)

Instructions

    Cut the tofu into bite‑size cubes. Whisk together sesame oil, soy sauce and chili sauce, then toss the tofu cubes in the mixture. Cover and refrigerate for about 2 hours.

    Whisk cornstarch with a little water to make a thin batter. Remove tofu from the marinate and coat it in the batter. Dredge in bread flour and fry in hot oil in batches for 2‑3 minutes until golden brown. Drain on paper towels.

    Wash, trim and pat dry the spring onion. Slice into fine strips and briefly fry them as well. Drain on paper towels. Serve the tofu cubes garnished with the fried spring onion strips.
