Chocolate Cookies with Nuts

Try the chocolate cookies with nuts from Spoonsparrow. With hazelnuts in the cookies they are real nerve food.

Ingredients

  • 300 g butter
  • 150 g apple sauce (no added sugar)
  • 200 g whole grain sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 2 Eggs
  • 400 g wheat flour type 1050
  • 100 g cocoa powder (strongly defatted)
  • 2 tsp Baking powder
  • 250 g hazelnut kernels
  • 200 g dark chocolate chips

Instructions

    Beat butter with apple sauce, sugar and salt until fluffy; fold in eggs one at a time. Mix flour, cocoa and baking powder and stir into the wet mixture. Roughly chop nuts and mix them with chocolate chips into the dough.

    Line two baking trays with parchment paper and drop 1 tablespoon of dough spaced apart on each tray. Bake the cookies in a preheated oven at 180 °C (fan 160 °C; gas: level 2–3) for 12–15 minutes. Remove from the oven together with the parchment and cool on a wire rack.
