Chili con Carne with Pasta

Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 1 tbsp Olive Oil
- 250 g ground beef
- 450 g peeled tomatoes (canned)
- 500 ml meat broth
- 2 tsp chili powder
- Salt
- Pepper
- 530 g kidney beans (canned; drained weight)
- 100 g whole wheat pasta (penne)
- 40 g Gouda cheese (30% fat in milk)

Peel and finely dice the onion. Heat oil in a large pan, sauté onions briefly, add ground beef and cook crumbly for 6–8 minutes. Add peeled tomatoes. Pour in broth, bring to a boil, season with chili powder, salt, and pepper, then simmer for 20 minutes. Drain beans, add them, and simmer for another 5 minutes.

Meanwhile, cook pasta in plenty of boiling salted water until al dente, drain, and stir into the finished chili. Grate cheese and serve the chili con carne with pasta topped with it.
