Chicken nuggets with fries: Here comes the fast‑food classic in a smarter variant.

Ingredients

  • 800 g potatoes (starchy)
  • 7 tbsp rapeseed oil (for frying)
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 600 g Chicken breast fillet
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 2 tbsp Whole wheat flour
  • 2 Eggs
  • 80 g whole wheat breadcrumbs
  • 6 tsp ketchup

Instructions

    Wash, peel and cut the potatoes into 1–1.5 cm thick sticks. Rinse with cold water and pat dry. Toss with 4 tbsp oil and turmeric, then spread on a parchment‑lined baking sheet and bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C (180 °C fan; gas: level 3) for about 30–35 minutes, turning once midway.

    Meanwhile wash the chicken breasts, pat dry and cut into bite‑sized pieces. Season with salt and pepper and dust with flour. Beat the eggs in a bowl. Place the breadcrumbs in a shallow dish. Dip each nugget in the beaten eggs, then coat thoroughly with breadcrumbs, pressing them on well.

    Heat the remaining oil in a pan and fry the chicken nuggets over medium heat until golden brown on all sides.

    Remove the fries from the oven, season with salt and serve alongside the nuggets with ketchup.
