Cherry Cake

Ingredients

  • 500 g cherries
  • butter (for the pan)
  • flour (for the pan)
  • 250 g softened butter
  • 200 g sugar
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 5 eggs
  • 1 packet baking powder
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 40 g ground poppy seeds
  • 400 g flour
  • 20 ml cherry brandy
  • 5 tbsp milk
  • powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions

    Rinse the cherries, rinse them hot and dry them. Grease a springform pan with butter and dust it with flour.

    Preheat the oven to 180°C fan.

    Beat the butter with the sugar and a pinch of salt until fluffy. Alternately fold in the eggs, baking powder, cocoa and poppy seed mixed flour, then incorporate the cherry brandy and milk into a smooth batter. Pour the batter into the springform pan, top with cherries and press lightly. Bake in the preheated oven for 45-50 minutes. Remove the finished cake, let it cool slightly and release from the springform pan. Place on a cooling rack to finish cooling.
