Cheese Macaroni
The cheese macaroni from Spoonsparrow is real soul food: creamy, warming and always a pleasure. The perfect heart‑warmer for cold days!
Ingredients
- 500 g whole wheat macaroni
- Salt
- 250 g Zucchini (1 Zucchini)
- 1 onion
- 30 g butter (2 tbsp)
- 50 g diced turkey ham
- 2 tbsp spelt whole‑grain flour
- 50 ml whipping cream
- 400 ml milk (3.5% fat)
- 10 g parsley (0.5 bunch)
- 100 g cheddar
Instructions

Cook macaroni in salted water according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and rinse with cold water.

Wash, peel and grate zucchini. Peel and dice onion. Heat butter in a pan and sauté onion, zucchini and turkey ham for 2–3 minutes; stir in flour, cook briefly, then add cream and milk. Simmer gently while stirring for about 5 minutes.

Meanwhile wash parsley, shake dry and chop. Grate cheese. Pour macaroni into a baking dish, pour the sauce over it and sprinkle with parsley.

Sprinkle cheese on top and bake in preheated oven at 200 °C (180 °C fan‑forced; gas: level 3) for 15–20 minutes until golden brown. Remove from oven and serve immediately.
