Ingredients
- 300 ml buttermilk
- 0.5 cube yeast (about 21 g)
- 500 g flour
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 tsp sugar
- butter (for the pan)
- flour (for the pan)
Instructions
-
1.
Warm the buttermilk in a pot to 40°C and stir in crumbled yeast until smooth. Mix flour with salt and sugar in a bowl, make a well in the center, pour in the buttermilk and knead into a smooth dough by hand or with an electric mixer’s dough hook. Add more flour or buttermilk if needed. The dough should release easily from the bowl.
-
2.
Knead the dough well and cover it in a warm, draft-free place for about 1 hour to rise.
-
3.
Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) with upper and lower heat. Grease a loaf pan with butter and dust it with flour.
-
4.
Shape the dough into a loaf and place it in the prepared pan. Let it rise for another 15 minutes, then bake in the preheated oven for about 40 minutes. Remove, let cool, and turn out of the pan. Cool completely before slicing and serving.
