Ingredients

  • 1 stale roll
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 tbsp Apple cider vinegar
  • 200 g cream cheese (plain)
  • 2 Eggs
  • breadcrumbs
  • 1 tsp freshly grated horseradish
  • 200 g Gouda cheese
  • 200 g Camembert cheese
  • 2 pears
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • flour (for breading)
  • 800 ml vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. 1.

Dice the stale roll into small cubes, mix with olive oil and apple cider vinegar, and let soak. Knead together cream cheese, eggs, 3-4 tablespoons breadcrumbs, and horseradish; cover and refrigerate for 1 hour.

  2. 2.

Remove rind from cheeses and cut into 2 cm cubes. Peel pears, quarter them, remove core, slice into wedges, and toss with lemon juice.

  3. 3.

Form small balls from the cream cheese mixture and coat in flour. Coat cheese cubes and pear wedges first in flour, then in beaten eggs, and finally in breadcrumbs. Press coating firmly onto each piece.

  4. 4.

Heat oil in a fondue pot over a burner; dip breaded ingredients using a fondue fork into hot oil and fry until golden brown. Remove and serve on a platter with lingonberry jam as desired.
