Ingredients
- 5 old-fashioned rolls
- 700 g sour apples (Boskop)
- 70 g ground almonds
- 50 g Raisins
- 6 tbsp sugar
- 500 ml milk
- 3 eggs
- 0.5 tsp cinnamon
- 2 tsp grated lemon zest
- juice of 1 lemon
- a pinch salt
- butter
Instructions

Slice the rolls into thin slices.

Peel, quarter, core and cut the apples into thin strips. Drizzle with lemon juice.

Line a greased baking dish with a layer of roll slices, spread some apple strips on top, sprinkle raisins, a bit of sugar, cinnamon, lemon zest and almonds, then add more layers until all ingredients are used, ending with a layer of roll slices.

Whisk together milk, eggs, pinch of salt and remaining sugar (about 3 tbsp) and pour over the mixture. Top with butter flakes and bake in a preheated oven at 180°C for about 40 minutes.
