Ingredients
- 1 onion
- 1 Garlic clove
- 400 g canned white beans
- 0.5 stale roll
- 1 egg
- Salt
- Pepper (freshly ground)
- 0.5 tsp ground cumin
- white bread crumbs (as needed)
- flour (for working)
- 4 Tbsp vegetable oil (for frying)
- 4 brioche buns (light burger buns)
- 1 tomato
- 4 large iceberg lettuce leaves
- 1 Red Onion
- 2 tbsp chili ketchup
Instructions
-
1.
Peel and finely dice the onion and garlic. Drain the beans in a sieve, rinse them, and let them drain well. Soak the roll. Mash the beans with a fork. Squeeze the roll very well, tear it into pieces and add the garlic and onions to the beans. Mix in the egg and season the mixture with salt, pepper, and cumin. If the dough is too soft, add a little breadcrumbs and mix into a well‑formed dough. Shape 4 patties from the dough with floured hands and fry them in hot oil for 3–5 minutes per side until golden brown.

2.
Horizontally halve the buns and toast or grill them. Wash the tomato, cut off the stem end, and slice it. Clean, wash, and dry the lettuce. Peel the onion and slice into thin rings.

3.
Place the sliced tomatoes on the lower bun halves and spread a little ketchup. Put a bean patty on top, add cheese, onion rings, and lettuce, then place the bun top.
