Basic Shortcrust Pastry Base

Ingredients
- 100 g Granulated Sugar
- 1 egg
- 125 g butter (or margarine)
- 250 g whole wheat flour
- 1 tsp Baking powder
- 1 pinch salt
Instructions

Add the granulated sugar, egg and butter to a mixing bowl. Then add the flour, baking powder and salt. Mix with an electric hand mixer on low speed until a smooth dough forms.

Roll out two-thirds of the dough and spread it onto the bottom of a (greased if necessary) springform pan. Use the remaining dough to line the inner walls of the pan.

Prick both the base and the rim several times with a knife, then bake in a preheated oven at 200 °C (180 °C fan; gas: level 3) for about 30 minutes.
