Baked Vegetable Baguette Slices

- 1 Baguette (250 g)
- 1 Garlic clove
- 100 g heavy cream
- 1 egg
- Salt
- Pepper (freshly ground)
- nutmeg
- 350 g antipasto vegetables (oil‑brined, e.g., tomatoes, peppers, onions, artichokes)
- 2 balls mozzarella (125 g each)
Instructions

Slice the baguette into approximately 1.5 cm thick pieces and lightly toast them on a rack in a preheated oven at 200 °C.

Peel the garlic. Whisk together cream and egg, season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg, then squeeze the garlic into the mixture.

Drain the vegetables, reserving the oil. Cut the vegetables into slightly smaller pieces. Slice the mozzarella.

Brush the baguette slices with the garlic‑cream mixture and arrange them side by side in a greased baking dish. Top each slice with vegetables and mozzarella slices. Drizzle some of the reserved vegetable oil over the top. Bake at 200 °C for about 20 minutes until golden brown.
