Ingredients
- 10 old bread rolls
- 4 shallots
- 200 g chestnuts (pre-cooked)
- 1 Garlic clove
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp freshly chopped herbs (e.g., parsley and thyme)
- 3 eggs
- 200 ml whipping cream
- 200 ml milk
- Salt
- pepper (ground)
- nutmeg
- butter (for the pan)

Preheat oven to 180°C fan. Butter the baking tins (or four portion tins). Dice the bread rolls. Peel and cut the shallots into strips. Halve the chestnuts. Peel, finely chop the garlic clove and sauté with the shallots and chestnuts in hot butter until translucent. Remove from heat, stir in herbs and combine with the bread cubes. Fill the prepared tin(s). Whisk eggs with cream and milk, season with salt, pepper and nutmeg. Pour over the bread mixture and bake for about 45 minutes until golden brown.
