American burgers are easy to prepare and taste great for dinner, lunch, or a perfect take‑away meal.

Ingredients

  • 4 hamburger buns
  • 400 g ground beef
  • 1 Shallot
  • 1 Red Onion
  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 2 Tomatoes
  • 4 lettuce leaves
  • 1 pickled cucumber
  • 4 avocado wedges (drizzled with lemon juice)
  • 4 tbsp oil
  • 4 tsp mayonnaise
  • 4 tsp mustard
  • a pinch dried marjoram
  • Salt
  • freshly ground pepper
  • chopped chives for garnish

Instructions

  1. 1.

Peel and finely chop the shallot. Knead it into the ground beef along with mustard, marjoram, salt, and pepper. Form four patties and fry them in hot oil for about 5–6 minutes on each side. In a second pan, cook the bacon until crispy.

  2. 2.

Meanwhile, wash and drain the lettuce. Slice the pickled cucumber. Peel the red onion and cut it into rings. Halve the buns; if desired, toast them briefly under a preheated grill. Spread 1 tsp mayonnaise on each half and layer with lettuce. Place the patty on top, spread mustard, then add cucumber, avocado, bacon, and onion rings. Sprinkle with chives and close with the bun top.
