Yeast Men

Ingredients
- 500 g flour
- 1 cube yeast
- 75 g sugar
- 250 ml lukewarm milk
- 50 g softened butter
- 1 egg
- 1 egg yolk
- 2 tbsp milk
- almond kernels
- raisins
- nuts
Instructions

Sift the flour into a bowl, press a well in the center.

Dissolve the yeast in some lukewarm milk, stir in 1 tbsp sugar and pour into the well, dust with flour and let rise covered for 30 minutes. Then knead in the remaining milk, sugar, butter and egg, work into a smooth dough and let rise covered for 1 hour. Knead the dough again. Set aside some dough, shape the body and head from the rest of the dough. Separate arms and legs by cutting them off from the torso and shape as desired.

Shape additional decorations such as hat, scarf etc. from the remaining dough.

Whisk together egg yolk and milk, brush the yeast man with this mixture.

Attach the decorations, raisins as eyes and buttons, and more ornaments. Brush again with the egg‑yolk mixture and let rise for about 30 minutes. Bake the yeast man on the second rack from below in a preheated oven at 200°C for about 30 minutes. Cool on a wire rack.
