Whiskey Sauce Steak

Ingredients
- 1 large onion
- 2 cloves garlic
- 2 tbsp Vegetable oil
- 1 tbsp brown sugar
- 80 ml whiskey
- 120 ml apple juice
- 1 tbsp balsamic vinegar
- 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1 tbsp Maple Syrup
- 150 ml tomato ketchup
- smoked salt
- Cayenne pepper
- 4 beef steaks (about 180 g each)
- Salt
- ground pepper
- 8 spring onions
- vegetable oil for grilling
Instructions

Peel and finely dice the onion and garlic. Sauté both in hot oil. Sprinkle sugar over them, let caramelize briefly, then deglaze with whiskey. Add apple juice, vinegar, Worcestershire sauce, and maple syrup. Bring to a boil, stir in ketchup, and reduce until thickened. Season with salt and pepper.

Wash and trim the spring onions.

Rinse the steaks, pat dry, and season with salt and pepper. Grill them over oiled grill grates alongside the spring onions for about 2 minutes per side until browned. Cook to desired doneness (depending on thickness, 2–6 minutes). Remove from pan and rest for a few minutes.

Plate the steaks with the sautéed onions and pour the sauce over them.
