Warm Cocoa and Almond Milk

Ingredients

  • 500 g peeled almonds
  • 2.5 l water
  • 5 tbsp sugar
  • 1 cinnamon stick
  • vanilla pods
  • 2 tsp grated lemon zest
  • 100 g block chocolate
  • 750 ml milk
  • sugar (to taste)

Instructions

    Hot almond milk – for about 8 people

    Blend the almonds with roughly half of the water in a blender. Then add the remaining water, cinnamon stick, vanilla bean and lemon zest, bring to a boil while stirring and let simmer for about 10 minutes. Remove from heat, discard the cinnamon stick, allow to cool slightly and serve warm.

    Hot chocolate – for about 3 people:

    Break the chocolate into pieces and melt it in a double boiler. Add milk and sugar, stir slowly until heated through and bring to a boil once. Serve hot.
