Vegan Burger Patties
Vegan Burger Patties by Spoonsparrow: This classic tastes great even without meat.
Ingredients
- 80 g Soy flakes
- 120 ml Vegetable broth
- 1 Red Onion
- 1 clove of garlic
- 1 beetroot
- 3 tbsp olive oil
- 240 g black beans (canned; drained weight)
- 1 tbsp Tomato Paste
- 1 tsp paprika powder
- 50 g rolled oats
- 2 tbsp flaxseed meal
- Salt
- Pepper
Instructions
-
1.
Pour the soy flakes with hot vegetable broth and let them swell for 10 minutes.
-
2.
Peel and finely chop the onion and garlic. Peel and grate the beetroot. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a pan, add the onion and garlic and sauté over medium heat for 2 minutes. Add the grated beetroot and sauté for 2 minutes, then set aside to cool slightly.
-
3.
Drain the beans, rinse and drain them. Combine with tomato paste, paprika powder, rolled oats and flaxseed in a food processor. Season with salt and pepper and roughly blend.
-
4.
Drain the soy flakes, squeeze out any excess liquid and add them together with the onions, garlic and beetroot to the food processor. Mix well, but not too finely, so that a moldable mass is created. Season with salt and pepper if necessary.
-
5.
Shape 4 burger patties from the mixture. Heat 1 tbsp of oil in a large pan and fry the burger patties for about 5 minutes on each side over medium heat. Serve with homemade burger buns and toppings as desired.
