Turnip Stew with Bacon and Apples

- 200 g thick-cut bacon
- 1 onion
- 300 g carrots
- 300 g white turnip
- 300 g potatoes
- 2 stalks leeks
- 500 g sour apples
- 2 tbsp lemon juice
- 400 g cooked, shredded Kassler pork
- 2 tbsp oil
- 1 l meat broth
- 0.5 bunch marjoram
- 2 Bay leaves
- Salt
- ground pepper

Dice the bacon finely. Peel and dice the onion. Wash, peel, and cut carrots, turnip, and potatoes into small cubes or sticks. Clean, wash, and slice leeks into rings. Peel apples, quarter them, core, and cut lengthwise into thin slices; immediately drizzle with lemon juice.

Cut Kassler pork into cubes as well.

Heat oil in a large pot, brown the onion and bacon, pour in broth, add some marjoram sprigs, bay leaves, carrots, potatoes, turnip, and leeks. Cover and simmer for about 30 minutes, add Kassler and apple slices 3 minutes before cooking ends, season with salt and pepper. Sprinkle with marjoram leaves and serve.
