Thin Minute-Steaks
Thin minute steaks on crispy bread with bell pepper and onions. Delicious Philadelphia-style: beef fillets topped with melted cheese served in buns.
Ingredients
- 250 g beef fillet
- 1 tsp Dried oregano
- 1 tsp Paprika powder (sweet)
- 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- Pepper
- 2 onions
- 200 g yellow bell peppers (1 yellow pepper)
- 125 g mushrooms
- 2 tbsp oil
- Salt
- 2 elongated whole wheat buns
- 80 g Edam cheese (30% fat in milk; 4 slices)

Instructions

Slice beef fillet into very thin strips. In a shallow bowl mix with oregano, paprika powder, Worcestershire sauce and pepper. Cover and set aside for later use.

Peel onions and cut into fine strips. Quarter bell peppers, deseed, wash and cut into fine strips. Clean mushrooms and slice thinly.

Heat 1 tbsp oil in a pan, sauté onion and bell pepper strips while stirring over medium heat for 5 minutes.

After 5 minutes add mushrooms. Season vegetables with salt and pepper and cook until tender for 10 minutes.

Cut buns horizontally and toast on the oven rack under the grill until light brown.

Spread bell pepper mixture over toasted buns.

Heat remaining oil in the pan. Cook beef strips while stirring for 1 minute.

Divide beef into two portions, top each with cheese slices.

Let cheese melt. Then lift beef from pan with a wide spatula and place onto buns. Garnish with herbs if desired.
