Ingredients

  • 1 Rinderfiletsteak (ca. 180 g)
  • 2 EL Pflanzenöl
  • Salz
  • Pfeffer (aus der Mühle)

Instructions

  1. 1.

Pour oil into a hot pan. Pat the steak dry and sear it on both sides for about 2 minutes.

  2. 2.

Press lightly with your finger on the meat and compare it to the palm of your hand to easily determine how cooked the steak is.

  3. 3.

If you press with thumb and index finger together, feel the palm; if it feels as soft as the steak, it is raw or blue (after about 2 minutes).

  4. 4.

If you feel more resistance, like when thumb and middle finger touch, it is red or rare (after 3-4 minutes; reduce heat to avoid burning).

  5. 5.

If you place the thumb on the ring finger, it is pink (after 5-6 minutes).

  6. 6.

If you bring thumb and little finger together, the steak is done (after about 8 minutes).

  7. 7.

Season with salt and pepper as desired and serve.
