Sweet and Sour Chili Sauce

The sweet and sour chili sauce from Spoonsparrow tastes excellent with Asian dishes, grilled meat or vegetables.

Ingredients

  • 150 g red chilies
  • 1 onion
  • 5 garlic cloves
  • 100 ml apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp salt
  • 150 g brown sugar

Instructions

    Wash the chilies and cut off the stems. Peel and roughly cube the onion and garlic cloves, then blend them with the chilies in a blender until finely chopped. Transfer the mixture to a pot along with apple cider vinegar, salt, sugar and 500 ml water and bring to a boil. Reduce heat thereafter.

    Simmer gently over low heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the sauce has slightly thickened. Pour the sweet and sour chili sauce into prepared bottles, seal tightly and allow to cool before storing.
