Swedish-Style Salmon Potato Gratin
The Swedish-style salmon and potato gratin is always a hit, whether as a side dish, light main course or on a warm buffet.
Ingredients
- 800 g waxy potatoes
- Salt
- 30 g Butter
- 1 onion
- 3 sprigs dill
- 250 g smoked salmon
- 250 ml milk (1.5% fat)
- 150 ml Heavy Cream
- 4 eggs
- black pepper (ground)

Wash the potatoes and cook them in salted water for about 30 minutes. Drain, peel, and let cool before slicing.

Butter a baking dish or springform with 2 teaspoons of butter.

Peel and finely dice the onion. Wash the dill, shake dry, pluck leaves, and roughly chop. Layer the potatoes in the dish, top with slices of salmon, sprinkle with dill and onions, then add another layer of potatoes. Continue layering all ingredients and finish with a top layer of potatoes.

Whisk together milk, cream, and eggs; season lightly with salt and pepper. Pour over the layered ingredients and scatter butter flakes on top. Bake in a preheated oven at 180 °C (160 °C fan) for about 45 minutes until golden brown.
