Stuffed Tomatoes with Ground Meat

Ingredients

  • 8 medium tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 Shallot
  • 1 Garlic clove
  • 400 g mixed ground meat
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tbsp breadcrumbs
  • 1 tbsp dried oregano
  • Salt
  • Cayenne pepper
  • 50 g grated mozzarella
  • young oregano (for garnish)

Instructions

    Wash the tomatoes, cut off a lid and scoop out the flesh with a spoon. Lightly oil a baking dish and place the tomatoes inside.

    Preheat the oven to 200°C (400°F) fan‑forced.

    Peel and finely chop the shallot and garlic. Add them to the ground meat along with the egg and breadcrumbs, then knead into a smooth mixture. Season with oregano, salt, and cayenne pepper, and fill the tomatoes.

    Bake in the oven for about 15 minutes, then sprinkle with mozzarella and bake another 10 minutes. Remove from the oven, let cool briefly, and serve garnished with fresh oregano.
