Steamed broccoli is one of the healthiest vegetables. It strengthens the immune system and lowers cholesterol.

Ingredients

  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 2 tbsp Soy sauce
  • 1 tsp liquid honey
  • 1 Lime
  • 1 tsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp Sesame seeds
  • 350 g Broccoli

Instructions

  1. 1.

Peel the garlic cloves and slice them thinly.

  2. 2.

Heat the olive oil in a small pot and sauté the garlic over medium heat until lightly browned.

  3. 3.

Add the soy sauce and honey, simmer gently for 1 minute. Squeeze the lime to extract juice. Add 1 tbsp of lime juice and sesame oil to the soy mixture and set aside.

  4. 4.

Toast the sesame seeds in a dry pan until golden brown.

  5. 5.

Wash the broccoli, cut into small florets, and peel the thick stem with a vegetable peeler.

  6. 6.

Slice the broccoli stem thinly and line the bottom of a steamer basket with these slices.

  7. 7.

Place the broccoli florets on top of the sliced stems. Put the steamer basket in a suitable pot that is flat‑bottomed and filled with water.

  8. 8.

Cover the pot, bring the water to a boil, and steam the broccoli for 6–7 minutes.

  9. 9.

Remove the broccoli from the steamer, toss it with the sauce, and sprinkle with sesame seeds before serving.
